Last February 22, 2009 6/49 the Philippine government’s lottery, which is run by the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes office or PCSO, had its biggest pot in Philippine history that was estimated to be more than P 320,000,000.00. Around 25 million Filipinos were attracted to bet for this pot hoping that they would be the lucky enough to win it just like a construction worker from Novaliches, Quezon City, who won the April 2008 lottery which was estimated to be P249 million.
Winning the Philippine lottery is statistically near to impossible. As we all know that there are 49 numbers of which six will be randomly selected. Just choosing the right combination is near to impossibility. If we compute it statistically we find out that 49 x 48 x 47 x 46 x 45 x 44 = 10,068,347,520 yields this much combinations. This means that choosing the right combination among 10 billion possible combinations is nearly impossible.
I have not tried gambling nor will I ever try gambling. Yet the frenzy and the statistics involved has prompted me to blog about the Philippine 6/49 lotto. Now, seeing that the chances of winning are quite slim, what could be the secret formula in winning the lotto. Well, I could only think of two.
1.) Buy all possible combinations – To do this you must spend around P 201,366,950,400.00 more than 627 times more than the winning pot. Simply multiply P20 by the number of possible combination, which is 10,068,347,520 combinations. This is a sure way to win the lottery.
Yet betting on all possible combinations does not guarantee one to profit from it. For one P 320 million pesos jackpot only comes once and you have to win 627 times more just to recover the cost spent in the betting. One other thing is that not everybody wins the jackpot solely. So winning the Philippine 6/49 lottery is not really profitable using this method but it will surely help you get the right possible combination.
2.) Just don’t gamble. – This is the most logical and also my favorite. Once my barber told me that for the past seven years he has been faithfully betting in the Philippine 6/49 lotto everyday. So that would mean he would be spending around P 7, 000.00 every year (20 x 365 days minus holidays).
Assuming, however, that he had invested his P 7,000.00 per year in a time deposit account with an interest rate of about of 1.25 to 2.25 % per annum depending on amount placed, his money would have yielded more than P 48, 000.00 at the end of a 7 year period.
Should he, however, placed that P 7, 000.00 in the stock market and wisely chosen stocks using Warren Buffet’s methods, his money would have reached up to P 89, 000.00 + ( 15% compound interest) to a huge P 160, 000.00 ( 30% compound interest).
So those are my secret formula to win the lotto. To all gamblers, “Good Luck” (I don’t believe in it though) you are going to need lots of it.
