The last thing you want to do is try to handle several tables at once when you are not firing on all cylinders and are not playing at your best. To be successful you need to be well rested, alert, and obviously not under the influence of alcohol. This is dangerous because it means you will make rash, sloppy and careless decisions which will have major repercussions for you in the long term.

Professional poker players often rely on their skill in assesing what their rival is holding in any given hand. Your ability to do this well in your game, will in large part determine your extended success in poker. However, determining your opponent’s hole cards is one of the more intricate aspects of the game to get really good at. Here is a quick guide to get you started.
The most important factor is paying close attention to the game, even when you’re not involved in a hand. Betting patterns and certain body language tells tend to be repeated over and over by many players, and learning to recognise these can give you a huge advantage. If an opponent plays out of his normal pattern, then you should stop and ask yourself why. Typically this means his hand is uncommon too, usualy indicating a moderately good, or rather weak hand which requires a decision.

Certain poker players would rather complain about a pot they lose. They actually think that complaining will make them feel better about what just happened.. Complaining is simply bad karma. Since it cannot help your strategy to engage in complaining, then you have to start asking yourself why you are doing it.
You’ll often see players complaining, especially in online games, and almost without exception they are very weak players themselves. If you are in the habit of doing this, and you’re serious about your poker you need to stop now. No need to chastise yoruself, just sinmply make the decision to no longer bad mouth your opponents for weak plays.

If you play hands from early position in hold’em, you will set the groundwork for a confusing image at the poker table. However, it is regularly more expensive to do so, because of the inherent risks with having the most amount of players to act behind you.
Now we are not talking about raising with quality hands, which you should be doing anyway. No, there are other possibilities from early position. Some players do this with connectors, small pairs and suited aces or even suited kings. That’s quite a lot of different hands you could be playing from early position and is definitely going to expand your hand range in the opinion of your adversaries. To do this however you’ll need to be ready to play quite a lot of big and dangerous pots, because the more often you play for early position, the more your opponents will play back at you.

All players limp now and then for one reason or another in tournaments. Limping seems week, because ordinarily the act of calling waives control of the hand to someone else at the table. But is limping a viable strategy when all of the poker training you hear about online always slants to play more aggressive?
Well you’ve probably heard this one before, but the answer is of course “it depends”. There is to be sure, a strong argument to limp in certain situations. The problem with limping however, is that naive players tend to do it excessively, and from the incorrect position. Repeated limping in early position in online poker tournament is a recipe for losing.

The amount of pressure that you can constantly direct onto your opponents can oftentimes be measured in parallel with your overall success in poker.
Think about when your opponents bet into you – in effect, forcing you to figure things out. As you well know, it’s by no means easy to make a big decision with a marginal hand. In that sense, it is constantly better to be the aggressor in a hand, except of course you are trapping your antagonist. The idea of using aggression is to persuade your rival to guess incorrectly about what you’re holding. Whether you want them to fold or call depends on the circumstances, but you always want him to make a misstep. Exerting pressure on your opponent encourages errors.

Playing poker against stupid players should be lucrative, but do you often find yourself losing to players who have no idea of what they are doing? This can be a deep frustration for players that are serious about improving their own game.
Of course they are likely new players too, but you should have the advantage because you read all the good poker authors, paid for membership training, watched a few videos and managed your bankroll sensibly well. The problem is that your bankroll is at best, unimpressive. You might in fact analyze your poker bankroll and become disappointed at its lack of development.

Each play you make in hold’em poker will effect the size of the pot. It’s critical you remember this because a bulk of the confrontations that you are involved in should be small pots compared to your stack size. You are only looking to play large pots when you have monster hands, and we all know how rare that can be.
Always consider what the result of your actions might be. Whether you’re checking, calling or raising, every action has the potential to manipulate the size of the pot. Betting pre-flop, or on the flop when you have the best hand could cause you to lose more if you’re outdrawn and have the weakest hand at the showdown. So be mindful of your actions, and consider not only your own hand strength, but your opponents and the board cards when deciding on what action to take.
